We reveal Prague's stand out stores from the best Czech crystal to affordable garnet jewellery and contemporary homewares.
Sejto
Sejto, which sells hand-blocked
textiles, is the kind of shop you walk into and want to buy
everything in sight. Some of our favourite products are classic
hemstitched linen napkins and placemats, and delicate dragonfly
print table runners in that have an Anthropologie/Liberty look.
Shirts, skirts, pillows, and bed linens are all available, and
materials used are mostly cotton and linen. Many of the designs
are drawn from antique Bohemian designs.
Inexpensive.

Cescky
Granat
Although every third shop in Prague seems to
sell garnet jewellery, this one is our favourite. The Dlouha
location of Czesky Granat has great service and you'll be able to
do your shopping in a quiet, civilised setting
away from the crowds near Old Town Square. One side of the shop
sells gold and garnet jewellery while the others sells more
affordable gold plated silver. Best bets are earrings and
pendants, and the gold plated jewellery is very
affordable.

Boheme
Opened in 2002, this contemporary Czech shop
specializes in knitwear and leather. The look is upscale casual
(think J. Crew or Principles). Some of the standout pieces
include a white crocheted shawl, buttery soft leather
three-quarter coats, as well as basic t-shirts. Hand crocheted
scarves, hats and belts are also available.

Tatiana
Tatiana is one of the best contemporary Czech boutiques in the city. The line was founded in 1995 by Taťána KovářÃková and Lucie Blažková, and the shop carries everything from classic suits to richly embroidered coats and cocktail dresses. The overall look is modern with a twist.

Kali
Located just two doors down from La Provence, the best brasserie in town, Kali is a little gem of a boutique. Owner Grainne Lucey-Tomiczek was inspired to open a shop that reminded her of the little boutiques in London's Notting Hill. The shop has a very girlie feel, with a huge crystal chandelier and a white divan. Designers include Diane Von Furstenberg, FrostFrench, Paul and Joe, and Stella McCartney.

Dr Stuart's
Botanicus
This old-fashioned apothecary shop
is a favourite among ex-pats in Prague, and is ideal for picking
up gifts (for yourself or others). Think of it as the Czech
version of C. O Bigelow in NYC. All of the products are based on
plants and herbs grown on a Czech farm, and everything from
creams, candles, soaps, shampoo and conserves is for sale here.
The old-fashioned packaging, with dark bottles and wax seals, is
also a hit. There are several locations around the city as well
as one at the airport for last minute shopping.

Moser
Hands down, Moser's is the most
exclusive place in Prague to buy crystal. The showroom itself is
worth a visit, with its wood panelled walls, coffered ceilings,
antique leather chairs and crystal chandeliers. The Moser family
has been making crystal since 1857 and is a favourite among royal
families, including the royals of Spain, Britain, Denmark and
Thailand. Prices are astronomical but its worth a visit just to
window shop.
Material
It seems that every third shop in Prague
sells crystal chandeliers, but Material is our favourite. Located
just underneath the Charles Bridge, Material stocks a well-edited
selection of crystal chandeliers and glassware that have a
contemporary look. The shop itself looks contemporary, with sage
green walls and scrubbed pine floors. Some standouts include
crystal and chandeliers with glass tubing (if you like Dale Chihuly, you'll
like this) as well as understated stemware and hand-blown striped
plates.

Manufaktura
This store is
a one stop shopping solution for all of the gifts you need to
bring back home. The concept of the store is that everything is
inspired by nature, whether its wood, stone,
essential oils or beeswax. Some of the best gift items to be
snapped up include Christmas ornaments, hand painted eggs on a
ribbon; and traditional wooden toys. Manufaktura's new line of
cosmetics has a sleek look, and scents include bergamot with
thyme, pear with honey, peach with almonds, and cedar with
ginger. There are several locations around the city as well as
the airport.

Loutky Marionettes
Puppets are one of the most popular- and
ubiquitous- presents to be found in the city. One of the best is
the simply named Marionettes, which is on the road leading up to
Prague Castle. Every type of puppet imaginable is for
sale here, from tiny figures of musicians, ghouls and Harry
Potter to a huge puppet of a scuba diver.
Art
Decoratif
Fans of art nouveau design- especially Mucha
designs- will love Art Decoratif. The store sells mainly
reproductions of art nouveau items as well as some vintage
jewellery.
