I don’t know anything about art. Sometimes, I drag one of my art-smart friends in New York to guide me through the galleries in Chelsea or a museum collection. But this doesn’t work when I’m traveling. On the road, I always have the hankering to do something “cultural,” even though I haven’t a clue where to start.
Of course, there’s an app for that. For the formidable and exciting New York art scene, there’s a new iPhone app called Art Guide New York. This handy app (available here or on iTunes) served as my “personal advisor” to the city’s contemporary art scene, helping me navigate galleries, museums, and art-related events around town. Suggested itineraries are available for total newbies through art-filled neighborhoods.
So far, guides are available for London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and Tokyo, with many other cities on the way. Goodbye, clunky dog-eared guidebooks.
